Acupuncture is the medical art of inserting ultra-thin needles into anatomical points on the body to produce a desired physiological effect toward the resolution of pain, or treatment and prevention of disease. Stress, climate, lifestyle and diet can all impact the body adversely and cause blockages for the smooth flow of energy in the body. This gives rise to pain and illness. Acupuncture serves to remove these blockages so the body may return to a state of balance whereby the innate healing powers of the body may operate unencumbered and health may be naturally restored.
Acupuncture is simple, safe and effective with virtually no side effects. It does not interfere with other treatment modalities and is often found to enhance the effect of other therapies such as massage, physical therapy and chiropractic when used in combination. Acupuncture may also be useful at moderating and preventing some of the undesired side effects of more invasive modalities such as chemotherapy and surgery.
